Mayor Nutter Appoints New Chief Cultural Officer

In a press conference at City Hall this morning, Mayor Michael Nutter announced the appointment of Helen Haynes as Chief Cultural Officer in the City's Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (OACCE). Haynes joins OACCE from her current position as Director of Cultural Affairs at Montgomery County Community College. Her background also includes teaching and arts advocacy work, as well as 30 years of experience as an arts administrator, presenter, and visual artist.

Philadelphia's Emerging Leaders in the Arts

Earlier this spring, I had the opportunity to learn from and grow with a cohort of emerging leaders in the arts through the Arts & Business Council’s Designing Leadership program. This was a bright, engaging (and sometimes challenging) group of individuals, and I’m excited to see where this next generation of leaders takes the arts and cultural sector.

William Penn Foundation Names New Leader

The Board of Directors of the William Penn Foundation announced today that Peter J. Degnan, Vice Dean of Finance and Administration at the Wharton School will be the Foundation's new Managing Director as of March 3, 2014. Prior to his seven-year tenure as Vice Dean at Wharton, Mr. Degnan held two other positions at Wharton - Executive Director of the Aresty Institute of Executive Education (2005-2007) and Director of the MBA Career Management Office (2002-2005).

Dr. Page Talbott Appointed President and CEO of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania

The Board of Councilors of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania (HSP) announced that Dr. Page Talbott has been appointed President of the Society, effective February 10, 2014. Dr. Talbott brings with her a deep understanding of and commitment to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, having been a longtime member of HSP's Board of Councilors and interim president and CEO since April 2013.
