With the presentation of a small blue box, the African American Museum in Philadelphia received a giant national treasure Tuesday as it was lent the Congressional Gold Medal bestowed on Rosa Parks, known as the mother of the modern civil rights movement.

The US Airways Magazine, with a readership of over 3 million, is one of the most widely read in the country. On April 30th the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance and advocates from around Pennsylvania spent the day in Harrisburg meeting with state legislators.

Fourteen advocates from our region, together with a dozen or more folks from other parts of the Commonwealth, met with more than 40 State Senators and Representatives to talk about arts and culture funding in the FY2013 as well as other issues of concern to our sector.
