VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT: Creating a Win-Win Experience

A workshop for nonprofits that wish to attract, engage, and retain volunteers in different capacities within their organizations.

WHAT WE’LL COVER:

Effective volunteer programs can save your nonprofit money by supplementing staff services, but is your organization maximizing the volunteer experience, for both the volunteer and the organization? If the volunteer experience is managed properly, your volunteer programs can not only save money and staff time, but they can also become a pipeline for advocates, donors, and board members. This session will help you make your good volunteer program into a great one with a higher return on investment than you thought possible.

PRESENTER:
KATHLEEN WELSH BEVERIDGE, President, Spark Nonprofit Consulting will share her extensive knowledge of what works in both large and small nonprofit volunteer programs while delivering useful insight into what experiences volunteers are looking for, and what nonprofit leaders can do to cultivate volunteer talent to help the organization in creative ways.

As a result of this session, participants will:

-Understand how to structure your volunteer program for maximum return
-Develop training strategies for staff who work with volunteers
-Learn ideas for engaging volunteers in meaningful ways that can lead to a greater investment

Who Should Attend:  Executive Directors, management-level staff members, and Board members who are responsible for managing volunteers either on an ongoing basis or for special events.

Webinar: Using Location Based Applications - Aug. 31

How are arts organizations using place-based applications like FourSquare or Facebook Places? Could these tools be useful for your organization? How might they integrate into what you already doing with social media? We all have lots of questions about these relatively new marketing tools; in this webinar, we'll take a look at the potential of place-based applications.

Join Laura Quinn of Idealware for a talk about what these applications can do, how you could use them and a walk through some case studies of the tools in use in the arts community.

Idealware, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, provides thoroughly researched, impartial and accessible resources about software to help nonprofits make smart software decisions. Idealware provides an authoritative online guide to the software that allows U.S. nonprofits—especially small ones—to be more effective.

Curriculum Writing & Assessment

In this course, students and professionals alike will learn how to develop strong arts-integrated curricula and lesson plans by studying samples and one another’s work. They will also learn how to develop and perform relevant assessments of children’s behavioral and artistic progress, and the trajectory of the class as a whole. This training gives students the real nuts and bolts of preparing and delivering a lesson under the difficult circumstances in which BuildaBridge works. Additionally, there will be discussion of learning style theory and how to build targeted activities for each learning style into a given lesson.
