Building Your Lists of Email Subscribers, Friends, and Followers- Webinar

Your contact lists are your organization's lifeline to donors, volunteers and other supporters, and with the rise of online marketing, you have more types of lists to manage than ever before. Your success in online fundraising and advocacy is directly related to the size and health of your email list. You want to grow the number of people subscribed to your blog, podcast, or other RSS feeds. You want more Facebook fans, Twitter followers, and video watchers.

But who, how, and to what end?

Many of the people who will turn into your best donors in years to come are the ones who are signing up for your email newsletter and casually connecting with you through social media today. But buying lists, poaching them from other nonprofits, or using automated tools to quickly inflate your numbers just doesn't work (junk in = junk out).

Instead, you should be implementing a system to grow your online contact lists easily, effectively, and ethically, over time.

During this webinar, you'll learn how to do just that by focusing on the best practices in grow your email, RSS subscriber, and social media friends lists, whether you are starting from scratch, rebuilding a list that's stagnating, or just curious about easy solutions you may be overlooking. We'll talk about how you find potential new supporters who may know nothing about you now, but who fit your description of an ideal supporter.

We'll look at numerous techniques and incentives -- both offline and online -- that you can use to encourage people to connect with you via email or through social media. You'll leave with a to-do list of great ideas to grow your lists in 2010.

Kivi Leroux Miller, president of Nonprofit Marketing Guide.com, will teach this webinar.

Setting Up Marketing and Fundraising Partnerships with Local Businesses- Webinar

Would you like to create mutually beneficial partnerships between your nonprofit and local businesses to help with marketing and fundraising? It's called Cause Marketing, and it's developed into a specialized field of its own. Large nonprofits are hiring staff members whose sole job is managing these partnerships.

But cause marketing can work for nonprofits of all sizes. You simply need to take the lessons learned from famous cause marketers like Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Livestrong, and scale those down to approaches that work at the local level. That's what guest speaker Joe Waters will show you how to do during this webinar.

During this webinar, you'll learn:

  • How cause marketing must benefit both the nonprofit and the business -- and how to avoid common pitfalls that tip the scales too far either way
  • About the various types of cause marketing partnerships, including coin cannisters, pin-ups, shopping days, Facebook "likes" and more
  • How to decide which type of partnership is best for your cause, and your business community
  • Ways to propose cause marketing partnerships to local businesses -- and what questions to expect in return
  • When to continue negotiating a cause marketing partnership, and when to walk away
  • How to keep business partners happy and to build upon your early successes

Joe Waters, author of Cause Marketing for Dummies and SelfishGiving.com, the web's #1 blog on cause marketing, will present this webinar. Kivi Leroux Miller, president of Nonprofit Marketing Guide.com, will moderate your questions for Joe.

When you register, you'll also be eligible to purchase a copy of Joe's new book "Cause Marketing for Dummies" for just $15.

We are also planning an in-depth coaching e-clinic with Joe in September for 24 local nonprofits, and webinar participants will get first dibs on registering for those seats.

Nonprofit Writing Stinks! Bring Your Writing Back to Life-Webinar

The people who work for nonprofits perform some of the most interesting, engaging work around. So why do nonprofit grant proposals, newsletters, and web content sound as though they were written by heartless (and even headless) robots?

Hack your way out of the jargon jungle and learn how to write about your nonprofit's mission and activities like the smart, passionate person you are!

Using lots of real-world examples of both good and bad nonprofit writing, we'll cover these points and more:

* Spot-cleaning jargon and nonprofit-speak out of your writing

* Avoiding the nonprofit topics most likely to bore your readers to death

* Honing in on your key points and cutting the blah, blah, blah

* Using metaphors to make your point more clearly

* Writing for your readers, including donors, volunteers, and other supporters

Don't let bad nonprofit writing cost you another grant, new volunteers, or political support. Instead, use your words to inspire and motivate people to support your organization and your cause.
