Demystifying the Consulting Process

September 13, 2011 - 6:00am

A consulting project is a major investment for any nonprofit. Being well-informed about the process can make the difference between a project that achieves the desired objectives and one that gets mired down in disappointment and unmet expectations.

During this session, Lori Moffa, Director of Consulting for The Nonprofit Center, who has been on both sides of the consulting relationship, will discuss the key components that comprise a consulting project, including: making the decision whether to undertake one, hiring a consultant, clarification of roles, sample RFPs, and contract negotiation.

You will leave this session with an enhanced ability to evaluate your organization’s readiness to undertake a successful consulting effort as well as a better understanding of how to exercise informed control once a project is underway.

Audience: Staff and board members of organizations that may be considering a consulting project in strategic or business planning, fundraising, finances or some other aspect of organizational development.
