2011 Visionary Woman Awards
Moore College of Art & Design will present the 2011 Visionary Woman Award to Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, Jane Walentas and Signe Wilkinson. Now in its ninth year, the Visionary Woman Awards celebrate exceptional women who have made significant contributions to the arts and are leaders in their fields. Jaune Quick-to-See Smith is honored for her groundbreaking vision as a painter and printmaker and for her dedication and excellence as an American Indian and environmental activist. Jane Walentas is honored for leadership and perseverance as an artist and community development advocate in supporting a community for artists and turning the DUMBO section of Brooklyn into one of the New York’s most desirable neighborhoods. Signe Wilkinson is honored for her distinction as one of America’s nationally syndicated women cartoonists and the first female cartoonist to win the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning.
As the first and only women’s visual arts college in the country, Moore College of Art & Design is honored to highlight the extraordinary achievements of women in the arts and provide powerful role models for our students. The Visionary Woman Awards bring national attention to Moore and the talented women artists honored while raising funds for Visionary Woman Scholarships for Moore undergraduates.
