The Future of Arts Education in Pennsylvania

November 2, 2011 - 2:00pm

*Introduction to the Arts and Education Initiative (AEI) of The Education Policy and Leadership Center (EPLC) and updates on the work of its 32-member Study Group.
*Discuss your experiences and suggestions for partnerships and policies that will support the arts in schools and communities and the learning opportunities they afford to people of all ages.
*Help to develop an arts and education policy agenda for Pennsylvania.

The Regional Community Forum is an opportunity to learn more about, and contribute to the success of, a unique initiative, AEI, which is intended to strengthen public and policymaker support for the arts and education in Pennsylvania.  The Initiative and the work of its Advisory Committee and Study Group will produce the Arts and Education Policy Report February of 2012, which will include recommendations for state policymakers and other audiences.

Join the discussion about what needs to be done to enhance the quality of, and access to, the arts and arts education for all citizens.  Share your vision for thriving communities firmly rooted in their commitment to the visual arts, music, theater, and dance, and participate in lively dialog about the role of public policy in supporting an educated citizenry in Pennsylvania.

This Regional Community Forum is sponsored by The Education Policy and Leadership Center,
an independent, non-partisan, not-for-profit organization working to improve the development and implementation of state-level education policies, to improve student learning in grades P-12, increase the effective operation of schools, and enhance educational opportunities for citizens of all ages.

The Arts and Education Initiative of EPLC is supported by generous grants from
The Heinz Endowments, the William Penn Foundation, and the Buhl Foundation.
