POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Associate Director of Development, the Development Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the Raiser’s Edge NXT database, tracking the development department budget and expenses, producing lists and reports for staff as needed, and directly managing the appeals calendar. This position will oversee a part-time gift processor.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create, design, and implement short and long-term strategies to renew and increase support from current and lapsed individual donors giving below $1,500 using direct mail, crowdfunding, and online appeals.
  • Working with the development team to create and program Friends members events to ensure benefit fulfillment, stewardship, and cultivation efforts.
  • Handle Friends members customer service issues in an efficient and thoughtful manner.
  • In partnership with the development team, identify and cultivate Friends members to become major donors.
  • Create a plan for each giving level, provide quarterly analysis of each program to evaluate goals, and course correct if need be.
  • Research and draft prospect brief materials for the department leadership.
  • Run and create custom reports in Raiser’s Edge NXT to accurately predict areas of growth and assess performance and revenue benchmarks.
  • Run queries and exports to pull lists for the development team as needed.
  • Maintain data integrity within the Raiser’s Edge system by running routine audits to ensure correctness and consistency within the database.
  • Serve as the department’s budget captain tracking expenses, managing department invoices, and submitting monthly and quarterly reports to the Interim Director of Development.
  • Oversee part-time gift processor who processes gifts and generates batch reports as well as acknowledgement letters.
  • Work closely with the business office handling gifts, reports, and monthly reconciliation.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Ability to edit text according to the Chicago Manual of Style guidelines.
  • Familiarity with the delivery of communication over the internet via Web sites, e-mail, e-newsletters, digital portfolios, online exhibits, chat rooms, etc.
  • Comfortable with extensive phone and e-mail communications.
  • Ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Extensive knowledge of Raisers Edge (NXT preferred), Crystal Reports, and Wealth Engine. Experience with Drupal web sites through a content management system (CMS) would be a plus.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a B.A. degree.
  • At least three years of directly related experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Located in Center City Philadelphia. The candidate will work in a general office environment, with some regional travel and evening or weekend hours required.
