We are seeking local, non-union actors of all racial and ethnic backgrounds, gender identities, ages, and abilities, reflecting the richly varied communities that we serve.
*We do welcome submissions from university and teen actors!*
We are especially interested in actors who:
- are comfortable portraying a wide range of characters and ages
- have an interest in engaging and working with young people from a wide range of backgrounds
- have experience in new play development
- Speak multiple languages, especially Spanish, Mandarin, and Farsi
All actors must be able to pass and provide proof of updated PA Criminal, Child Abuse, and FBI clearances upon being offered any role. (If actor has never had to undergo a clearance process, PYP will pay for and help to process clearances.)
All PYP acting work is paid - information below.

Classroom Actors
This season performers will most often visit classrooms in person with a PYP teaching artist, though some virtual actor visits may still be requested by our schools due to COVID safety procedures. Classroom actors serve students in a number of capacities, including: cold readings, giving feedback on drafts, improvising based on scenes, and performing at in-school festivals. (Multiple classroom acting opportunities available from March, 2026 - June, 2026, paid at a rate of $40/hr.)
Note
Actors will also be considered for any additional projects/readings that may come about throughout the season, including our Civic Theatre Project in partnership with ArtPhilly this June.
