POSITION SUMMARY: The Mütter Museum and Historical Medical Library at The College of Physicians has an opening for an individual to join our team as a part-time Visitor Services Associate. The Associate will be responsible for providing world-class customer service by anticipating needs, offering assistance, and making recommendations to visitors to the College, Museum, and Library. The Associate will orient visitors to the campus, complete admission, retail, and membership transactions, and work with colleagues and visitors to make the best possible visiting experience. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Visitor Services Associates are required to handle a variety of duties including: • Represent the College of Physicians and its Mütter Museum and Historical Medical Library in a professional manner • Greet and orient visitors to the College, Museum, and Library • Communicate with visitors in person and on the phone; providing information, directions, and other assistance to ensure a positive visitor experience • Conduct transactions, manage money, and closeout reports promptly and accurately • Demonstrate a keen and dedicated knowledge of Museum and Library exhibitions, programs, and gift shop merchandise • Assist in loss prevention by keeping the gift shop clean, well-organized, and well-stocked at all times • Be enthusiastic, pleasant, and willing to learn and share information about Mütter Museum and Historical Medical Library content with visitors and guests • Must have familiarity with administration procedures • Ensure every guest receives high-quality customer service, and the best possible Museum experience • Promptly communicate any issues to a manager • Miscellaneous tasks such as stocking public areas and organizing coat room • May include assistance with events and programming • Other duties as required QUALIFICATIONS: • High School diploma or equivalent • One-year retail, museum reception, or other related experience is required. • Must have basic cash-handling skills and computer skills, including efficiently operating a point-ofsale system • Excellent customer service skills • Demonstrate strong attention to detail • Strong communication skills • Ability to multi-task in a complex, fast-paced environment • Candidate must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule and be available on weekends and holidays • Must enjoy working with the public. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position is typically seated at a desk or table and entails repetitive tasks including ticket–scanning. The ability to communicate verbally is necessary for this role. ADDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT DETAILS: This is a part-time, non-exempt position, and pays $16.00 per hour, up to 28 hours per week. Candidates must work weekends. Shift may include additional weekday, holiday, and evening hours, as needed.
