The Grants Officer (GO) is responsible for the Museum's relationships with all private foundations and government grant opportunities.  Experience preferred in writing major grants to private foundations, corporations and government agencies (Federal and State). The GO a skilled writer with strong organizational skills who researches, cultivates and stewards institutional funders, according to funder guidelines, deadlines and accepted best practices, to foster connections with the Museum. The GO maintains a yearly grant status calendar and oversees all aspects of grant-writing within the ISM.

The Event Specialist is responsible for ensuring that rentals of museum facilities are executed in a superlative, safe and well managed way. This is achieved by providing extraordinary customer service for renters and their guests while also ensuring the safety of attendees and the museum’s resources.  The Event Specialist will serve as the point person for all events beginning with set up, continuing through the event itself and ending as the last person to leave the building following clean-up. During events, the ES will actively monitor all components to ensure adherence to Independence Seaport Museum rental policies.  This position will also entail a high degree of accuracy in the ordering and inventory of liquor.

Glen Foerd is looking for Visitor Services Assistants to steward the museum during public visitation hours and during private, catered events. 

Visitor Services Assistants’ duties are two-fold: welcoming the general public for self-guided tours, and supervising vendors and partners when Glen Foerd is rented for private events. The majority of these events are weddings, taking place on weekends. Wedding guests are not only event attendees, but potential return visitors, and Visitor Services Assistants act as hospitable representatives for Glen Foerd while stewarding the site.

Visitor Services Assistants must be reliable, independent, detail-oriented, and confident, as they are often the only Glen Foerd staff represented at private events. They should be prepared to handle problems that may arise, such as excessive noise levels and general misconduct. The Visitor Services Assistant is responsible for seeing that Glen Foerd policies are followed, ensuring that the museum and collection are treated respectfully, and making sure that the site is clean and secure at the end of the night.

LOADING DOCK AND SECURITY ASSISTANT

The Loading Dock and Security Assistant is responsible for planning, organizing, and monitoring the receiving, storage, and distribution of mail & package deliveries for the Museum. Ensuring a smooth and consistent operation. Packages and supplies need to be distributed to the proper departments in an effective and efficient manner. The assistant is responsible for all sorting, delivery and pick up internal and external mail and packages and handles the processing of outgoing mail postage. Additional responsibilities include maintenance and operation of the postage meter as well as assistance with security functions within the loading dock area.

Responsibilities include the safekeeping and monitoring of visitors, staff, building, exhibits, parking, and grounds.  Ensure that visitors have a safe, enjoyable experience.

The Development Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining the Museum’s fundraising operations, working closely with the Chief Development Officer to identify, cultivate, and secure funding from individuals, corporations, and foundations on behalf of the Museum. The Manager will provide administrative support to the Development team and oversee database management: recording donor interactions for the department, booking pledges and gifts, running reports and administrating stewardship of donors. Taking initiative, in collaboration with CDO and working across Museum departments, the Development Manager will be responsible for the organization and implementation of all fundraising and donor-related events.
