The American Swedish Historical Museum is accepting applications for a Marketing & Communications Assistant. The position is 14 hours per week, with flexible hours and the potential to work from home. This is a temporary position starting in January 2022 through summer 2022. The American Swedish Historical Museum is accepting applications for a Museum Education Intern. The internship will take place starting in February and ending in August of 2022. The position is 8-12 hours per week in the Spring and 12-20 hours in the Summer, with flexible hours and some work from home. This internship is split into two phases; with the program development for college credit (Spring) and execution as a paid internship with a $2500 stipend (Summer).

The basic duties of this internship position are to develop, plan, and execute the summer library outreach program. This includes researching the chosen theme, developing a lesson plan, creating relevant age-appropriate activities, communicating with librarians, and presenting the program either in person or virtually. In this position, the intern will be exposed to the inner workings of the museum field through interactions with various staff and the importance of community engagement. This position reports to the Education & Public Relations Manager.

The Development intern will assist the development team in its mission to attract and cultivate individual, foundation, and corporate donors in support of the Center’s urgent mission. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about nonprofit fundraising and strategy at an organization primed for growth in the years ahead. The development intern will learn about donor prospecting, donor cultivation, solicitation and grant reporting, strategic planning, direct mail and membership programs, and database management. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about the Center’s mission and seeks to understand all aspects of non-profit development and strategy. The development intern will specifically assist the Development team with operational activities including, but not limited to, database maintenance, file management, membership mailings, and strategic activities such as donor prospecting and other special projects.
