SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) currently has an opening for a Senior Accountant. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this position will be part of a team responsible for the organization’s timely and accurate financial reporting function. He or she will apply generally accepted accounting principles to all accounting and finance issues, compile financial information, create and processes journal entries, reconciles reports. This position will work in a collaborative environment to ensure that deliverable due dates are met, and will also be in charge of the monitoring and review of cash, AR, inventory, and AP transactions. Assistance with month end processes and other accounting related functions are also required.

Primary Responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare/review monthly financial statements.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and update schedules
  • Process general ledger entries, including prepaid accounts, accruals, allocations, amortizations, and reclassifications
  • Responsible for cash management, bank reconciliation, EFT processing, as well as reviewing and posting journal entries.
  • Manage and maintain the financial close schedule, staying timely and on target with deadlines and Corporate expectations.
  • Oversight on the reconciliation process and management of all supporting documents with appropriate controls and sign offs.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • At least 4 years of experience in financial accounting
  • General ledger experience
  • Balance Sheet account reconciliations
  • Work well under pressure and meet hard deadlines throughout year as well as Month-End Close deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Accounting software packages
  • Highly organized with outstanding communication skills
  • Experience reconciling bank accounts with multiple credit card merchant accounts, helpful but not required.
  • Experience with Financial Edge, helpful but not required.
  • Higher education accounting experience, helpful but not required.
