The Technical Director is responsible for supervising all technical needs for shows presented by
FringeArts on and off site. The Technical Director works closely with all production team
members and reports directly to FringeArts’ Director of Production.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
● Supervise load-ins and load-outs in conjunction with FringeArts production staff, Venue
staff, Artist TDs, and other personnel, as needed
● Lead and participate in scenic construction, along with FringeArts Technical Coordinator
● Lead and participate in load ins, load outs, and other work calls as necessary
● Interface with all relevant departments (including Front of House/Box Office, Company
● Management, Stage Management, Development, Marketing)
● Coordinate schedules with production department to maximize efficiency at work calls
and balance workload
● Work with Production and Programming coworkers to efficiently meet artists
expectations
● Purchase/rent (and if necessary deliver) equipment and materials for shows
● Monitor expenses and stay within the production budget
● Maintain a safe workplace and ensure that safety rules are followed in theater and
festival venues
● Maintain excellent working relationship with artist companies
● Assist all Production coworkers in troubleshooting and resolving tasks across all
departments and active venues
● Relevant duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2-3 years experience in theatre technical operations and carpentry;
troubleshooting/creative problem solving; strong leadership skills; excellent verbal and written
communication skills. Experience in other technical departments (i.e. lighting, sound), working
with international artists, and touring companies is a plus.
Dates: August 18 - October 4, 2025
Workweeks vary from 35-45 hrs per week
Compensation: $7000 stipend
