Museum of the American Revolution

The Digital Asset Management (DAM) Fellow will support the museum’s efforts to organize, preserve, and make accessible its growing body of digital assets. This includes cataloging and standardizing digital files related to the museum’s collections (such as object photography and scans) as well as marketing and communications assets (such as press images, exhibition photography, video, and social media content). The Fellow will gain hands-on experience with digital asset management systems, metadata standards, and cross-departmental workflows that ensure museum staff, researchers, and the public can access high-quality digital resources.

This fellowship is designed for individuals interested in museum collections, digital preservation, communications, and/or information science.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the organization, cataloging, and ingestion of digital assets into the museum’s DAM system.

Apply and refine metadata standards to ensure consistency and discoverability across collections and communications assets.

Work with collections staff to review, label, and quality-check object images for internal and public use.

Support the development of guidelines and workflows for digital file naming, metadata entry, and rights management.

Conduct periodic audits of digital assets to identify duplicates, outdated files, and missing metadata.

Assist with training or documentation to help staff effectively use the DAM system.

Contribute to special projects related to digital access, online collections, or multimedia content as assigned.

Qualifications

Current graduate student or recent graduate in museum studies, library and information science, archives, history, art history, communications, or a related field.

Demonstrated interest in digital collections, digital preservation, or museum communications.

Familiarity with metadata standards (such as Dublin Core, VRA Core, or IPTC) preferred.

Experience with digital asset management systems, content management systems, or image databases a plus.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
