PlayArts: After School Program Staff (Part-Time)

Make a difference in the lives of children through arts-based learning! Join PlayArts in Northeast Philadelphia to provide engaging arts and enrichment programming to children after school, fostering creativity in a supportive and inclusive work environment!
Responsibilities: Implement art activities (theater, music, dance, visual arts, STEAM, etc.), support classroom management, and collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and safe learning environment.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 3:00-6:30 PM (mid-August-June). Weekly meetings Mondays 1:30-3:00pm. Training the week of August 18 - August 23 to prepare for the 2024-25 school year. 18-22 hours/week. Additional hours available for camp programming. Must reliably commute to/from Fishtown.
Arts or Education degrees preferred. Without an education-related degree, the following credits and experience is required:
- (1) A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field.
- (2) A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate, including 600 or more hours of secondary training described in § 3270.31(c) (relating to age and training).
- (3) A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate, 15 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children.
- (4) A high school diploma or a general education development certificate and completion of a post-secondary training curriculum described in § 3270.31(c).
- (5) A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 2 years experience with children (babysitting, camp counseling) or teaching experience is required.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of childcare experience required.
- BA in Education or related field preferred; Associate's degree or relevant experience also considered. See above for credit hours and degree information
- Classroom management skills.
- Must obtain required clearances/background checks prior to start.Pay & Benefits: $19.50 - $22.00/hour + paid time off.
