Journey Arts

Join the Board of Journey Arts
Journey Arts (formerly Intercultural Journeys) leverages the performing arts to catalyze social
change, challenge bias, and create spaces for dialogue. We uplift culturally diverse voices and
imagine a world where curiosity, empathy, and connection thrive.

For our 2025-26 year and beyond, we are seeking new members to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will play a vital role in advancing our mission and ensuring the strength and sustainability of the organization.

What You’ll Do as a Board Member
● Guide strategy: Shape long-term goals and ensure our work aligns with mission and values.
● Ensure accountability: Oversee finances, policies, and organizational performance.
● Champion the arts: Attend performances, serve as an ambassador in the community, and connect Journey Arts to new audiences and supporters.
● Fundraise and give: Commit to giving an annual personal contribution (suggested $1,000; minimum $100); and help secure additional resources through networks and advocacy.
● Collaborate: Serve on committees, engage in thoughtful dialogue, and work closely with staff and fellow board members.
● Lead with integrity: Uphold high ethical standards, support transparency, and foster a culture of equity and inclusivity.

Who We’re Looking For
● People who are deeply committed to arts and culture, equity, and community impact.
● Leaders eager to share their expertise in areas such as fundraising, nonprofit finance and accounting, marketing, strategic planning, and/or nonprofit governance.
● Individuals ready to be active participants—attending meetings and performances, serving on committees, and engaging in conversations that move the organization forward.
● Champions who see Journey Arts as one of their top three charitable commitments.

Why Join?
As a board member, you’ll:
● Directly support a diversity of artists and bold, socially relevant performances.
● Collaborate with a dynamic team of artists, Philadelphia-based professionals, and community partners.
● Shape an organization that is artist-first, globally inspired, beyond inclusive, and rooted in joy.

To Apply

We welcome inquiries from candidates of all backgrounds, and are particularly interested in candidates who have experience with fundraising, nonprofit finance and accounting, marketing, strategic planning, and/or nonprofit governance.  Also, we’re unique! Preference will be given to those who have attended our events in the past.

To express interest, please send your resume and/or website along with a brief cover letter sharing your interest in Journey Arts to volunteer@journeyarts.org by January 16, 2026. If you’ve seen one of our shows, be sure to tell us all about your experience!
