BuildaBridge, an arts and education non-profit, provides trauma-informed art-making to youth and their communities in Philadelphia. For over twenty years, thousands of participants benefited from BuildaBridge strength-based, person-centered and hope-infused art-making. BuildaBridge's pedagogical approach, the Safe Space Model, helps participants strengthen their resilience, self-efficacy, and hopefulness via BuildaBridge-trained teaching artists. This summer, BuildaBridge is embarking on extensive programming journey to provide many recreation centers with art-making over the next two years.

- experienced working with urban youth affected by direct, vicarious, and generational psychological trauma histories?
- ready to level up your lesson and curriculum planning?
- prepared to plan AND be spontaneous?
- willing to work as a team member to deliver process and outcomes that lead to greater advocacy for arts-access?
and lastly:
are you available on Wednesday, May 6 for a BuildaBridge training from 10 am to 6 pm in North Philadelphia, a few block south of Temple University?

Responsibilities:
- Attend all mandatory training sessions, including:
- Learn the BuildaBridge Safe Spaces Model (Pedagogical Approach)
- Learn basic trauma-informed theory and practice as it applies to art-making and teaching artist/participant interactions.
- Develop Curriculum Writing and Assessment (Planning & Accountability)
- Attend all Teaching Artist Meetings and respond to communications in a timely manner.
- Obtain necessary clearances (Child Abuse, Criminal Background & FBI)
- Attend an on-site orientation prior to the start of classes
- Be an essential member of Restorative Teaching Artists team as Lead or Assistant Restorative Teaching Artists.
- Arrive to class 30 minutes early to set up; stay late to clean up as needed and to assess/document program.
- Complete all required paperwork on time, including: monthly attendance records, monthly time sheets, weekly class observations, and weekly lesson plans.
- Complete a final written evaluation of the class and program
Qualifications:
- All Education Levels (High School, Some College, University Degree, Graduate Student, Graduate Degree)
- High level proficiency in an art form
- Teaching experience preferred
- Experience working with children
- Independent, self-starting, and proactive personality who can take initiative in improving the work environment and the organization’s capacity
- An understanding of the local social service environment
- Positive attitude and the ability to multi-task and learn new skills
