Purpose: The Communications and Advocacy Lead works in partnership with the Executive Director and the Director of Community Engagement to advance the mission and strategic goals of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation and PBF Holdings, Inc. by running external and internal communications. This position assists with all aspects of communications for the Foundation and the Equal Justice Center which includes marketing, advertising, public relations, media relations, print collateral, email marketing, solicitation materials, promotions, event planning, web content, social media, digital assets, data stewardship, brand reputation, outreach, advocacy, and engagement on critical issues. This position offers opportunity for hybrid work and includes some night and weekend events and requires strong customer service skills.

 

Essential Functions:

  • In collaboration with the Executive Director and Director of Community Engagement develop, plan, and implement and evaluate marketing plans and initiatives.
  • Independently and with the Director of Community Engagement, meet with other department leaders to discuss growth objectives and marketing needs for priority programs.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Community Engagement, develop and manage and track budgets programs and projects.
  • Conduct market analysis utilizing quantitative and qualitative marketing information to guide the development of differentiated programs, insightful marketing strategies and targeted tactics.
  • Develop and guide outreach strategies by identifying opportunities for new community relationships or optimize existing community relationships through analysis of all existing outreach trends both internal and external.
  • Independently draft print and on-line materials for outreach campaigns, donor relations, special events, and the Philadelphia Bar Foundation and Equal Justice Center websites.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
 

  • Knowledge of marketing disciplines and practices with an expertise in social media campaigns and analytics
  • Graphic design skills using InDesign or similar software
  • Project management experience with community outreach/advocacy experience
  • Working mastery of computer programs including: Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel
  • Diligent and capable of simultaneously balancing multiple high-volume projects and relationships
  • A great teammate who takes significant pride in your individual success, as well as the success of the team
  • Proactive and excited to pursue high-reaching goals with high energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism
  • An outstanding communicator, capable of determining how best to reach different audiences and execute communication accordingly

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree (in Business, Marketing, Communications preferred) with 2 years of experience in community engagement/social advocacy, or similar field, or 3 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Shown success in building strong interpersonal relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
