Wissahickon Trails

Wissahickon Trails is a community-based conservation organization headquartered in Ambler, PA. For 68 years, we have worked to protect and restore nature in the Wissahickon Valley, preserving nearly 1,300 acres of critical open space, building 24 miles of trails for public access, and protecting the health of the Wissahickon Creek. We are seeking a new member of our team who will have the opportunity to impact local environmental conservation and improve the quality of life in the Wissahickon Valley.

Finance & Administration Manager
The Finance & Administration Manager supports the organization’s financial operations, budgeting, administration, facilities, and IT. This position plays a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and committed to fostering a workplace culture rooted in integrity, inclusion, and joy.

We are seeking someone who values relationships, listens actively, and demonstrates a commitment to equity, inclusion, and access. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Executive Director. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily financial operations, including vendor payments, invoice processing, banking, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and grant/contract tracking.
  • Coordinate with external bookkeeping services to ensure timely posting and reconciliation of financial transactions.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, including quarterly and annual statements, and support ad hoc financial analysis for projects and programs.
  • Assist with the annual audit process and serve as a liaison with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the Executive Director; monitor budget performance and flag variances.
  • Maintain financial systems and reporting tools; ensure timely billing and collection of donor pledges and grant funds.
  • Administer employee onboarding, benefits enrollment, and compensation updates in coordination with the Executive Director.
  • Communicate financial updates and key issues to the Executive Director and provide support for Board reporting.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts, including renewals and service evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy through professional interactions with vendors, donors, and partners.
  • Supervise the part-time Administrative and Operations Assistant, who handles reception, IT coordination, supply orders, building maintenance, mail processing, and bank deposits.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications, Experience, & Core Competencies

  • Experience in nonprofit finance and administration.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or certification is a plus but not required.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in financial and operational roles.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting, audits, and grant management.
  • Ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and general IT systems.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to travel locally for meetings and programs.
  • Must pass background checks.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

Generally, this position requires working in an office environment and so is regularly required to sit or stand at a desk for hours at a time, stand, walk, and operate general office equipment (computer, telephone, file cabinets, copier, and printer). The employee must be able to lift 10 lbs. comfortably. The employee must be able to be outside 1-4 hours at a time for event support as needed. Compensation

This is a full-time, exempt position (salary range is $60k - $70k) with a full range of benefits, including paid time off, health (90% of employees and 50% of covered dependents premiums are paid by Wissahickon Trails), vision, and retirement (401k with up to 5% of salary matched by Wissahickon Trails after six months of employment).
