JOB DESCRIPTION: PROGRAM DIRECTOR
The Program Director of the Community Arts Center reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for developing and coordinating the programs of the Community Arts Center in support of the Arts Center’s mission and in coordination and cooperation with the Executive Director and other staff.
Who we are seeking:
We are seeking a highly motivated and self-directed professional who is comfortable managing multiple programs simultaneously with efficiency in a fast paced environment. The following skills and attributes are essential:
- Excellent communication and writing skills as well as a strong attention to detail
- Ability to establish and navigate relationships with a large number of teaching artists.
- Prior experience planning programs
- Possessing an understanding of the various media within the visual arts
- Ability to effectively and efficiently utilize an online registration system. (Training will be provided.)
The Program Director is responsible for:
- Working with faculty to plan and implement semester programs at the Community Arts Center including:
- Recruiting teaching artists
- Working with teaching artists to develop class offerings.
- Issuing and receiving faculty contracts.
- Collecting clearances from teaching artists working with minors.
- Entering classes into the online registration system.
- Coordinating with office staff to launch each semester, reviewing enrollment and communicating with teaching artists about cancellations and adjustments.
- Assessing semester outcomes with quantitative and qualitative measures
- Addressing any issues that arise related to teaching artist performance.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of Summer Spree camp program, including:
- Hiring Summer Spree Coordinator(s)
- Supervise Summer Spree Coordinator, establish a timeline of deliverables and conduct check-ins at regular intervals to ensure successful completion of the planning phase, assisting as needed.
- Support Summer Spree Coordinator during Summer Camp and act as a backup to oversee camp and/or fill in in various capacities if the Summer Spree Coordinator is absent, or if emergent needs arise with camp.
- Submit Summer Spree Payroll
- Assist Executive Director and Summer Spree Coordinator with coordination of Summer Fellows
- Coordinating the outreach program at the Community Arts Center, including:
- Contracting with faculty to provide programs.
- Working with community partners to develop programs both on and off site.
- Coordinating faculty with community partners.
- Requesting faculty pay for outreach programs.
- Negotiating financial arrangements and logistics with community partners.
- Developing budgets and maintaining accurate records of costs for outreach program in accordance with CAC annual budget
- Providing regular updates to Executive Director on the status of Outreach projects.
- Coordinating with the Ceramic Studio Manager regarding decisions about ceramics programming.
- Assisting Development Associate with grant applications
- Working with the Executive Director to develop new programs and coordinate the implementation of new programs.
- Identifying program needs and identifying new faculty members.
- Working with Arts Center staff to achieve the mission of the Community Arts Center.
- Provide regular reports to Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Other tasks or jobs relating to the operations of the Community Arts Center..
Education Level:
No specific educational degree is required. At least a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is desired.
