Quintessence Theatre, now in its 16th season of producing epic, classic theatre in Northwest Philadelphia, seeks an experienced, strategic and mission-driven Capital Campaign Manager to join our team.  In 2024, Quintessence purchased its longtime home, the historic Sedgwick Theater on Germantown Avenue, and is embarking on an ambitious renovation project and Capital Campaign to create a performing arts center for its community. In partnership with the Director of Development, Executive Director, Producing Artistic Director and Board of Directors/Campaign Committee the Capital Campaign Manager will assist in creating and implementing strategies to help Quintessence successfully complete this Campaign, currently envisioned to raise $35 million over a multi-year period.  This is a full-time, exempt position, requiring evening and weekend work. Flexibility with remote work will be provided where possible. Quintessence anticipates that this position will grow in scope and responsibility during the course of the Campaign, and hopes to find an individual that is eager to grow with us.

Duties include:

  • Work with Director of Development to conduct detailed donor research on current and prospective donors.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of gift tables and Campaign strategies, alongside Director of Development, Executive Director and Producing Artistic Director.
  • Create, cultivate and maintain a portfolio of major donor prospects.
  • Along with Executive Director, work with Board of Directors and Campaign Committee members to identify connections with key donors and prospects.
  • Coordinate all Capital Campaign strategies with annual giving goals, as led by Associate Director of Development.
  • Serve as point person for scheduling Campaign committee meetings.
  • Work alongside Director of Development to create and run Campaign cultivation events.
  • Prepare Campaign gift agreements and acknowledgements as needed.
  • Participate in the creation of Campaign materials, including the case for support.
  • Manage and maintain records of Campaign cultivation strategies, solicitations and results of meetings with campaign prospects.
  • Maintain records of campaign gifts and pledges, including payment schedules and the production of pledge reminders for outstanding pledge balances.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising, preferably in the arts and culture sphere.
  • Passion for mission-based fundraising, particularly in the arts and culture sector.
  • Prior success in the solicitation and negotiation of high-level gifts.
  • Ability to develop and implement fundraising strategies.
  • Knowledge of current and evolving trends in major gift giving and capital campaigns.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, and sound judgement.
  • Ability to motivate and work with volunteers, including board members.
