ARTZ in the Making Program Facilitator – Part-time, Contract

The program facilitator will have a deep commitment to the mission of ARTZ Philadelphia, a non-profit organization that offers opportunities to enhance quality of life for people living with dementia and their care partners through interactions around arts and culture. The person in this position will work closely with the Director of Programs as part of a cohort of program facilitators providing interactive art-making experiences across diverse media to people living with dementia in residential care communities and in public venues. Programs will take place at multiple sites throughout the Greater Philadelphia region. The person who fills this role will have the ability to bring their creativity, empathy, ability to forge human connections and artistic expertise to ARTZ in the Making programs.

This is one of a number of new positions that have been created as we revamp and build on our decade-long and very popular ARTZ in the Making program.

Job Description

Responsibilities Included (but not limited to):

ARTZ in the Making program sessions at sites throughout Philadelphia and surrounding counties will be facilitated on a rotating basis by a cohort of 4-6 professional/artist facilitators, skilled in a range of media. The person in each of these positions will facilitate small group art-making programs for people living with dementia (and/or sometimes their care partners.) They will be responsible for designing hands-on art-making projects that are responsive to the particular skills, needs, and interests of program participants. Programs are generally offered monthly at each venue, so projects should be able to be completed within a single 1-1.5-hour session.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience facilitating art-making projects for diverse and differently-abled artists.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with people living with dementia.
  • Experience directing volunteers.
  • BFA, MFA or related degree.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience working with community-based non-profit organizations.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English and/or Korean and English.
