Senior Mold Maker
The Sr. Mold Maker oversees the mold making department and all mold making needs. They will produce working RAM press molds, slip cast, and rubber master molds. In this position It is necessary to have strong organization, communication, and leadership skills. The Sr Mold Maker creates, delegates, and aligns the mold making schedule to correspond with production needs. Problem solving is essential in this position; troubleshooting is required when new designs are created and tested. The Sr. Mold Maker must also be able to work closely with various departments to help finalize mold designs. RAM training courses or work equivalent experience is required. Experience casting Smooth On products and pottery plaster No.1 is also encouraged in addition to previous work experience within a leadership role.
Responsibilities:
- Sand and seal all 3D printed molds before casting
- Train all Jr. Mold Making staff on making working slip cast and RAM molds
- Make and troubleshoot rubber master RAM and slip casting molds
- Make working RAM and slip casting plaster molds
- Clean, organize, and maintain the mold making space. Including proper storage of all rubber master molds.
- Oversee inventory and ordering of all casting materials
- Collaboration and troubleshooting mold designs
- Receiving deliveries
- Create, oversee, and delegate mold making schedule to align with production needs
- Strong departmental and interdepartmental communication
- Ability to work independently, and also within a team setting
- Participate in production design and scheduling meetings
- Keep detailed notes and logs of all department mold making
- Follow and ensure team follows all safety procedures and guidelines
Qualifications:
- RAM training course or the equivalent of 1 year working experience with RAM press molds, jiggering machines, and roller tools
- 1 yr of working experience with rubber mold making
- Completed Smooth On workshop or has the equivalent of 1 year work experience with smooth on products
- Experience working with sealing plaster molds
- A minimum of 1 year experience in a leadership role
- Must be able to lift up to 50+lbs and stand up to 8hrs a day
Nice but not required:
- Experience working with CAD/CAM modeling
- Familiarity with 3D printing process
- Familiarity with G Suite
- Familiarity with Slack
- Prior work experience working within a manufacturing environment
