Tempesta di Mare

Tempesta di Mare, Philadelphia Baroque Orchestra and Chamber Players, seeks an experienced Managing Director to guide the organization into its next chapter of artistic excellence and growth.

OVERVIEW

The Organization

Tempesta di Mare, named after Vivaldi’s concerto meaning “storm at sea”, is an award-winning chamber orchestra dedicated to the rich repertoire of the baroque era. Artistic Directors Gwyn Roberts and Richard Stone founded the group in 1996. Tempesta places special emphasis on expanding the baroque music canon by introducing the public to previously unknown masterpieces and composers—with over 50 modern premieres to date—as well as by offering new perspectives on baroque favorites. In addition to tours in the U.S. and abroad, Tempesta's Philadelphia concert series, founded in 2002 and the group’s main focus, is now in its 24th season. Tempesta di Mare has recorded for the British classical label Chandos since 2004, and its live concert recordings from Philadelphia and on tour are carried nationally on public radio and internationally via the European Broadcast Union.
