Historic Philadelphia, Inc. (HPI) in partnership with Independence National Historical Park, seeks an adult actress to portray, Frances Ellen Watkins Harper (1825 – 1911) for programming in 2020 celebrating the Women’s Vote Centennial.

Frances Ellen Watkins Harper was a writer, poet, public speaker, and champion of both the abolition and women’s suffrage movements. Born a free woman in Maryland, she lived much of her adult life in Philadelphia where she lent her powerful voice to social justice causes, especially as they pertained to African American women.

Lucretia Mott spent most of her life in Philadelphia where she rose to fame as leader in the abolition, woman’s suffrage, and human rights movements in the mid-1800s. She was a physically tiny committed Quaker, who was fearless in her advocacy of causes which furthered equity among men and women, black and white.
