University City Arts League seeks a proactive, communicative and organized individual to fulfill the role of Development & Operations Associate. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development & Operations Associate is responsible for supporting organization leadership in all aspects of fundraising, donor relations and event planning. 

University City Arts League (UCAL) is the neighborhood hub for arts education in West Philadelphia. Our contemporary art center champions intergenerational learning with a wide array of visual and performing arts programs, classes, workshops, and residencies. We are committed to our relationships with surrounding schools, community centers, individuals, and our neighbors. General Responsibilities –

This position works in a collaborative environment and coordinates and supports all donor activities. Duties include but are not limited to: donation entry and follow-up, acknowledgements, fundraising and communications strategies, cultivating current and prospective donors, representing the University City Arts League at internal and external events, and helping with the planning and execution of fundraising events. The Development & Operations Associate will also work with the Executive Director to increase donor engagement and identify new fundraising opportunities.

Core Responsibilities –

  • Manage donor contribution program-by processing, acknowledgement, and data entry of gifts and contributions as well as donor cultivation and stewardship;
  • Complete gift entry and recognition in a timely manner;
  • Develop donor related communications and mailings including thank you notes, engagement communications, etc.;
  • Maintain donor database and perform database maintenance and clean-up projects to improve data integrity and accuracy;
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint to support development efforts;
  • Provides office administrative support; namely Development Committee meeting preparations 
  • Supports the implementation of special fundraising events, assigned committees and special projects, including travel to local meetings and assistance with setup and participation in events;
  • Must maintain a level of professionalism with donors, board members and volunteers; and staff
     

Requirements 

  • 1-2 years’ of development and/or fundraising specific experience is required
  • Familiarity with art non-profits strongly preferred
  • Prior experience with donor management software appealing (i.e. Network for Good or similar)
  • Strong understanding of fundraising and donor management best practices required
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, think critically, and problem solve
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and consistency
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively cultivate, solicit and steward donors
  • Must be kind
  • Must work well with diverse, intergenerational age groups

  • This is an in-person role with occasional remote work possibilities 
  • There will be occasional weekend and/or evening hours

Education Level: 
Candidates should have a BA/BFA or the equivalent work experience in development and/or fundraising.
